What is the best car?

It depends on your needs and ability. Do you want a sports car or do you need a sport utility vehicle? Standard or automatic transmission.

The best module for me is the ESP-12F. I can put it on boards I have designed. It doesn't have extra circuitry that consumes power which can be important with battery operation. It gives me almost the maximum number of pins available. (gpio9 and gpio10 are used with the flash on the ESP-12, and on many boards) It has 4MB of flash. It is very low cost.

Many people like the Wemos D1 because it is relatively small. It has a USB serial connection. A 3.3v regulator, and programming logic. It has I/O modules(shields) available that stack on the board. It is inexpensive.

There are many different ESP8266 products and most of them are the "best", depending of the user's requirements.
