We have a "little" 130 pound 8 month old English Mastiff puppy. He sometimes sleeps in the hallway between our bedrooms at night, and a few times my son has tripped into/over him in the night.
Each time he's ended up smacking little Winston in his man-parts - a very sad thing. :o

So - an ESP8266-12 / PIR module in the hallway - and Node Red listening and deciding that if it's night, and if there's movement from the bedroom areas to the hallway that a nightlight in the hall shall be turned on.
Then 1 minute later turned off.

With the light being controlled by another ESP-12, a small 120V to 5 & 3.3v PS and a two SSR board all built into the wall AC outlet.

Magic! No more sad or sore Winston - and my son no longer has to feel guilty.

I've looked at some of the commercial home automation products which could do the same thing - just a person detector and an outlet switch costs well over $100.
My solution cost under $20 plus gives me a hobby and a lot of joy!
As I say to my kids - "it's a wonderful time to be alive!" :D
