Having followed many guides, google searches and searching this forum i cannot find the answer to my problem.

Ive connected the ESP to a pair of AA 1.5v Batteries getting me about 3.8v,
+ to VCC and linked to CH_PD
- to ground and a floating lead of GPIO0 which i take to ground when required for firm ware.
Tx and Rx connected respectively

All of this goes to an RS232 serial to usb converter where ive used terminal 2,3 & 5.

When i run RealTerm and then power up the module with GPIO0 not connected i get nothing but giberish on all Baud rates what am i doing wrong im trying to find the firm ware, and also wanting to set at an Access point spent several wasted hours trying all ideas and not getting anywhere.

Please help

Thanks Rick

Thanks for the help,

however im still in no mans land.

I downloaded Coolterm, created an INI file with "74880 921600" baudrates, I've tried both and when I connect the 3.3v to vcc, I get an error message "A serial port error occurred - 103: break condition"

Hey Rick,
If you're trying the AT firmware, did you set your terminal to 9600 bauds, 8 bits, 1 stop, and append CR and LF to your commands?
If you tried and flashed another firmware, which one is it? What flasher did you use?
