can't mark postings that aren't interesting as read

Now suppose you find AT commands uninteresting but also search for new posts the only way I have found to stop the uninteresting posts continuing to show is to actually access them. Robust board software will allow the user to mark postings as read without reading them since they aren't of interest and the users choice is respected. Perhaps the moderators have seen other boards so they may be aware of the unpleasantness that arises when this particular board's software denies choices to the user.
When looking at a specific forum the mark as read when not read is there, it is with the new postings that the inability to mark things read when unread is missing. The user may often want to read unread postings of interest and then effectively eliminate those uninteresting postings by marking all remaining unread postings as read.
