Hi,
I am trying to set-up ESP8266 dev environment to do some POCs. I am stuck with initial stage (Flashing) itself. Could you please help me here... Below are the connections I have made..

From ESP8266(ESP-12) --> FTDI 232-1/Breadboard
GPIO-0 --> GND
CH-PD --> VCC (3v3)
GPIO-15 --> GND
GPIO-02 --> VCC
GND --> GND
VCC --> VCC
TXD --> RXD( on FTDI)
RXD --> TXD (on FTDI)
GPIO-16 -->CTS (on FTDI)
DTR --> GIPO -0 [?? While flashing GPOI should be connected to GND.. Should we also connect DTR to GPIO-0?? Pelase clarify)

Problems I am fasing from the above connections...
1. When I connect VCC & GND on FTDI and plug in the USB.. The LED on Breadboard Power supply is glowing even before I shitch on the power supply. And blue light on the ESP8226 is not glowing.

2.If I left VCC and GND alone the above problem is not happening.

3. While running nodemcu Flasher..Com Port was automatically identified. I left the default setting as it is. Values are as follows.
In the Config tab --> INTERNAL://NODEMCU
In the advanced tab --> 230400/4MByte/40MHz/DIO

4.When I click on Flash, Both leds on FTDI and ESP module started blinking. The Com port was automatically identified. I waited for 3/4 mins after I clicked on Flash, I still see the following message in the log: and nothing is happening after that.

Log:
Note:Detect serial port changed.
Note:Auto MAP serial port.Port-->COM5
Note:Serial port connected.
Note:Begin find ESP8266.

Can someone please guide me if I am doing something wring here.. Thanks in advance. I am eagerly looking for some help.
Thanks in advance.
-Sri

Probably too little power. Although it works over here. You can configure the 232 as low or high power usb device.
