No response on AT commands

Hi,
Thanks for creating this forum!
Recently I bought a few ESP8266 modules and followed the instructions as in the ESP community wiki http://www.esp8266.com/wiki/doku.php?id=getting-started-with-the-esp8266. I wired the module just like the circuit given in the above link.
I'm able to flash the module using firmware ESP_8266_BIN0.92.bin. and a CP2101 Uart-Ttl converter
After flashing I tried to communicate with the module using Coolterm. When I reset the module and start Coolterm, I see a lot of "character blocks":
RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|. 4RvV.V.KE2R|.
etc.
I cant give a AT command and I think I can't even connect to the ESP8266. What did I wrong?
Hope someone can help me.
Kind regards,
