Can't enable server mode on module

I just got a new ESP8266 with at version 0.21.0.0 and SDK version 0.9.5. I'm trying to communicate with the module from a cell phone, both are already connected to the same Wifi network. However, I can't manage to enable the server mode on the module. I know that for the server mode to work, multiconnection needs to be enabled, but everytime I try to do that (AT+CIPMUX=1) I get the following message: IPMODE must be 0. I've try researching for other ways to enable multiconnection but it says the same everywhere. Why could this happen?
