Noob needs help writing firmware (signal strength, CSI)

Hi, I'm trying to make a signal analysis tool
I'm new to the ESP8266 and am looking for your thoughts on writing firmware for it (or if i need to do it at all).
My first question: is there anyway of getting Channel State Information from the ESP8266?
The second is: how can i get the raw frequency and amplitude of a signal?
I can't find any AT commands to get this information and the rssi isn't precise enough.
Do i need to write firmware? Does something out there exist to do this that i've missed?
Any thoughts, ideas or information would be a great help.
Thanks
