$5 raspberry pi zero

There is a new IOT platform in town. Linux, TLS, IPv6, HDMI, 512 Mbyte RAM, etc. It is so cheap the UK MagPi magazine includes a Pi Zero inside their December issue.

I seriously doubt it has deep sleep. There is no on-board Flash so an SD card is required. It is still quite a deal since a USB WiFi dongle is only about $10.

Adding the shipping cost make it more expensive.
I prefer the OrangePi-PC. It has Ethernet, 3 USB and more RAM.
(I've received some last week)

Adafruit and Microcenter are the US retailers so the usual US shipping rates apply. Raspberry Pi tends to have a slow production ramp up so boards can be hard to find after the initial announcement.

Unfortunately, Adafruit has already sold out the $5 bare boards but might have kits/bundles.

Microcenter sells the boards in stores but not by mail order.
