What about multiple esp in a small space? (wifi)

I have a general question about esp and wifi.
If you (for example) have some single led lights (like 20 of them) all controlled via a single esp, how fast and precise
it is possible to talk to them. Will you have problems with communication when there are too many of them in just a small space?
It might be a general wifi-question and I would be happy if some one could serve me some more research material. But as I start dreaming about realizing such a project backed by esp's I thought here would be a good place to ask.
