i am a newbie to programming and esp8266, please understand my scenario, i have small motor which is installed in consumers house, consumers use this motor for say two to three hours per day, but their usage time is random, i need to know about what time the motor is powered on and what time it is powered off, this data should be collected every day and it should be logged in system, so that whenever it gets internet access, the data can be uploaded.

(Funny way to do it would be to flash a Sonoff and just run the motor through it after the the switch. Then have the Sonoff post to the web once a minute or so.

- Mon Jan 25, 2016 3:36 pm #39680 I do something very similar to monitor motors with an ESP8266 and a PowerState Tail. It's not cheap at $34.99, but it's rock-solid and has AC plug and receptacle, so it's very easy. You can use NO or NC to give yourself the choice of active-high or active-low, depending on the GPIO pin etc.
