I built a little web api interface to control an LED dimmer. Got the ESP8266 working on a modified (3.3V) Arduino Uno:

Thank you for sharing!
I have one question: what do you use as power supply? It lloks like the ESP8266 requires some 300 mA peak to work reliably.

mine is running with a 150ma 3.3v ldo, connected to Thingspeak for more than a week now without an issue.
