Now on my 4th ESP, continuation of failed attempts to boot

So I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, at first I thought I've been frying these things but turns out I'm definitely not.

I'm on a mac, using Zitrades CP2102 Module for serial connection. I'm running 3.3v and the few connections required (I've lost count on how many guides I've followed to make sure I'm not doing it wrong)... My last headache was not realizing to connect CH_PD to 3.3v, but even then after connection all I get at boot is this:

Code: Select all ets Jan  8 2013,rst cause:1, boot mode:(3,6)

load 0x40100000, len 1396, room 16
tail 4
chksum 0x89
load 0x3ffe8000, len 776, room 4
tail 4
chksum 0xe8
load 0x3ffe8308, len 540, room 4
tail 8
chksum 0xc0
csum 0xc0

2nd boot version : 1.4(b1)
  SPI Speed      : 40MHz
  SPI Mode       : DIO
SPI Flash Size & Map: 8Mbit(512KB+512KB)
jump to run user1 @ 1000

After this nothing, I can't send any commands or anything.. and the chip starts to get pretty warm. Any help would be much appreciated.
