I am just getting started and having problems getting set up. It seems that the USB drivers are not installed properly. I am running Win7 also Linux Mint in VirtualBox and trying to use the Arduino IDE to do a basic led blink. I downloaded the USB drivers from Silicon Labs the CP210X USB to UART bridge VCP drivers. It seemed to install with no errors, but sure seems like it is not working. Any suggestions on where to go from here? I have the ESP8266 12-E 1.0. It failed in Windows and also on my Linux Mint Virtual Box. The error message from the Arduino IDE is attached...TIA Armando

Are you using an original Silicon Labs device? Or are you trying to use their drivers with a third-party device?

I have the same problem and it is so annoying
