EPS 8266 Thing Dev Board

we are doing a class project. We intend to use 5 "EPS8266 Thing Dev Board" with 4 sensors for each one. We have to connect one of them with a Raspberry. We don't know what kind of protocol is used for the connections. Do you know if it can use the same protocol of Arduino ?
