I did set up the IDE just as the tutorial stated, and I will try the examples on that page tomorrow morning.

However, I did try to validate one of the sketches on that page (esp8266 is at home), and I am still getting the same error "ESP8266WiFi.h:shagle No such file or directory" when I select "generic esp8266 module" omegle as my board.
