#325 Is this thing a true SOC? Or is it a closed SOC which can only be used as a peripheral? I've been looking at this SDK for half an hour and can't tell what kind of CPU it is or how much RAM it has. Plus all of the QCA4002 modules I could locate are in the $15+ range. Given how much trouble Qualcomm is to work with, this is not a very interesting chip.

Why is it so hard to answer basic questions about these chips? What CPU, how much RAM, how much ROM, how is flash handled. Everything is a closed black box.

Great deal of info on how to use these chips in SPI mode as peripherals. But why do that? RT5350 module is half the price and runs Linux.

You can get a QCA AR9331-based module featuring MIPS24Kc @ 400MHz, 64MB DDR2 SDRAM and 16MB SPI Flash for 9~16 USD in small quantities (I got single @ 11USD!):

The same manufacturer proposes a QCA4004-based module for 5~10 USD, so minus 4~6 USD:

But since you have to add a host CPU, I don't catch the point with the QCA4004 here...
