If not, then please can we have a way or re-initialising the stored program area and the rest of the file store

I don't understand why when I flash a new version the existing programs remain. The problem is that if the stored program area gets corrupted which I think mine is I have no way of "formatting" the spiffs filestore to get back to square without loading up some other firmware image.
