#4100 same problem here using a bus pirate via either esptool or espflasher. I was using bus pirate as a power supply, adding some caps to the power rail started getting it past 0%, but I can only get 70% tops, so it seems power related. Where do you get the xtcom tool? In the bus pirate are you selecting hiz or normal 3.3 mode?

#4117 Not powering through the buspirate though, external 5v 1A from usb-breadboard thingy. Buspirate is just for USB-UART.
The xtcom is from the electrodragon blog post about cloud update http://blog.electrodragon.com/cloud-upd ... p8266-now/
Works fine from virtualbox though.

#4140 Does XTCOM = ESP8266Flasher? I don't see links to any other tool in the post you referenced.

I have the esp8266 flasher but it crashes at exactly the same point as the python based tool. Was hoping XTCOM was a 3'rd tool that might work better. (I have two bricked modules at this point)

#4148 Yeah, I thought it was the official name for the tool. The titlebar says ESP8266 Flasher though, I might be wrong about calling it xtcom.
Now I've searched a bit more where I read abou the XTCOM, I think that's a different tool, perhaps something generic to flash devices via UART, anyway here's the link if you wanna try it out, it's from the russian esp8266 community: http://esp8266.ru/download/esp8266-utils/XTCOM_UTIL.zip

Let me know if you have any luck with it!
