what sketch is loaded to your arduino?

Do you have voltmeter? If yes - please check the voltage on both lines TX and RX.

voltmeter reads around 5v at TX of arduino.
As per the specification sheet, TX/RX pin of ESP is 5v friendly.

BTW, I heared that ESP8266 lines are not 5V friendly...
