> print(node.flashsize())
524288

. I'm guessing node.flashsize() looks at a value in the compiled code ( I'm using th epre-built for Nodemcu)and not at the hardware.
I wish we could go back to the old board style..I'm no fan of this new style

I think those buying "Large-capacity flash-4M" modules are getting fooled, it's just 512Kb.

Can you be specific ...which makefiles or user_config.h should change?
Is this something you have tested?
