For the newer RSLogix 5000 equipment, I utilise my hootoo and a patch cable, however the older equipment will not be upgraded. There's even a PLC2 in one of the fields, but the supervisor told them they couldn't look at it since they didn't have the necessary hardware or software. There are still a few 5s and a lot of SLCs. However, because the majority of those are held in MCC buildings, the weather isn't an issue. It's the metering devices I have to set up that are 232 connections (primarily Floboss 103's and the newer 1100's). One field, for example, employs automation direct PLCs to connect to their scada host.
