i put a esp8266 on a $4 cypress psoc board to drive a 150 rgb led strip over udp. its coming along. this is the first test of it streaming the rgb data over udp

Left it running all night, pushing 450 byte payload udp to it at 35ms internals, and it stayed up, hoping i can improve the speed a bit more.
For $4 for the dev board and 3-4 for the wifi with a vreg and level shifters,so far its a good deal.
