In lua?
In C it is no problem to integrate font tables. Unfortunately I have not gotten my ssd1306 to work with my C code yet.
With all the bit banging and whatnot the display driver should be implemented in C anyway.

Yep, LUA. I know it's totally possible in C but for the ease of programming I'd prefer a pure LUA solution
Maybe one of the NodeMCU developers can find a workaround for this issue if there's a demand.

I have not tested it or anything, just searched for oled and esp8266 on github.

Seems like a nice solution but as pointed out before, C only, no NodeMCU / LUA
