- Sat May 09, 2015 3:10 pm #17025 I believe now that DIO vs QIO is referring to flash chips that support 2 SD channels vs 4 SD channels. That difference has to be programmed into the ESP flash controller. The early WROOMs have DIO flash and almost everything newer is QIO. An image built for QIO will setup the flash controller wrong and it will not work. So I suspect this is the reason your new flashes to the early WROOM modules don't work - they were built for QIO flash.
