I solved it by adding tmr.wdclr() in the loop, I added it in more code I was trying and they now all work
I thought the two problems may be related but apparently not
The problem with the external supply occurs when I connect the Huzzah to an external 5V (or higher) supply instead of using the power from the USB.
Although all grounds are connected, the PC/Lualoader will report to check the baudrate. I tried all of them but no connection, also no result with Putty or Realterm
