Does the console cable work with Arduino IDE?

- Tue Mar 01, 2016 7:02 pm #42202 I just got an ESP8266 and notice that if I use a FTDI cable I can program it via the arduino IDE, but not with a console cable. Is this correct? The Adafruit documentation says it can be programmed with either cable but it does not appear to be recognized with a 4-pin console-usb cable. ??
