- Thu Feb 28, 2019 1:54 pm #80860 Hello All, I need help selecting which module to use between an ESP-01 or WeMos D1 Mini.

My needs are minimal - I need to monitor two digital signals, and send data to an MQTT server. Either module will satisfy these requirements.

I need to power the device via a 5V USB charger, so for the ESP-01 I would need some kind of 5V to 3.3V converter. The WeMos D1 Mini is slightly more expensive than the ESP-01, but with the addition of a 5V to 3.3V converter, the savings is gone.

I think I am better off just using the WeMos D1 Mini.

Comments, or anything I didn't consider?

- Sat Mar 02, 2019 5:35 am #80882 since your powering from wall-wart energy seems to be of no concern, thus D1 mini will be a good choice for ease of use.
