#50481 I cannot seem to find anywhere that sells nodemcu with the esp12 that allows DIO mode to free up SD2 and SD3 so I can use them as GPIO's ...

I need this for a project I have designed and worked with oddly my first nodemcu that I purchased allowed me to do this but every other one I have purchased since then has not allowed me to do so. Buying and testing these boards is fine but I have tried like 10 different suppliers already and still no luck at all...

I would love it if someone knew of a place I could purchase these nodemcu's for a good price.

#50492 All the nodemcu boards have gp09 gp10 under the can going to the flash chip. The pins to the flash chip can be raised and a thin wire attached to them to make the pins gp9 gp10 available when using DIO mode. It is messy. QIO has advantages so pins gp9 and gp10 although brought out of the can are exclusive to QIO lifting the pins is the only way I've found.

#50517 Do you have an image of your modification on a nodemcu board It would be removal of FCC cap required.

Would you not have to connect the pins on some nodemcu boards as well as I believe some of them are not connected if I recall correct.

As far as advantages of QIO I have a specific project that does not require such an advantage it is very simplistic in nature.

I have been lucky to find the seller of a board that works one time with zero modification so it was in hopes that I could find a supplier of the premodified module.

I really would like more information as my last attempt to do this on a board was not a success although I had everything correct I believe the board lines may not have allowed for it without modification possibly or something went wrong or I had the wrong pins etc IDK really it just did not work...

Please provide all the info and pics you can thanks!

#50537 I found the flash pin modification on the web. I did it some time back to interface a spi il9342 TFT with a touch screen and an sd card. It needed 3 cs lines and gp9 was needed for the cs line to the SD card. The can can be resoldered after the mod providing a very thin wire is used to branch pin7 to gnd to force DIO. gpi9 and gp10 are the SD1 and Sd2 pins , I have re-soldered the can so a picture is not useful. The web has good documentation and a search of this board also has information.
