#39867 Hi,

I have a NodeMCU DevKit 1.0 (from Amica) which has a few pins labelled 3V3 and one labelled VIN. I understand that this board has a built in regulator to take 5V and bring it down to 3.3V for the ESP-12E and that 5V can be supplied to the VIN or USB.

Is it safe to power the NodeMCU DevKit board with 3.3V only via any of those 3V3 pins instead of 5V or is the board really designed to be powered by a 5V supply to VIN?

Thanks

#49337 Hi
I have a nodemcu amica , while testing I accidentally caused a short between 3.3v and gnd . The onboard regulator is still working , i can power the unit from the external 5v or 3.3v but the usb power is not working.
When using the external 3.3v the usb port can still be used , but not when I use 5v input . I am looking for the
schematic , I would like to understand what failed .
