#6742 Ok, cool, hope that is it. I am using 5v from the FTDI USB Serial. It worked OK before upgrade.
Trying to use 3.3v shuts off the usb serial port adapter (too much power draw).
Maybe the new version uses more power..
Will report back in a few hours.

Do you need to do this procedure for every firmware or just once to get to a certain level?

Those pins are so small. Did you happen to make a YouTube video of the procedure?

What is the 8 pin chip for?

#6748 Ok, it is spitting out garbage because it crashed during upgrade.

Set baud rate (serial speed) to 57000 and reset the ESP8255 ESP05, you will see -

It seems the only way to fix is to get into program mode by pulling GPIO pins.

#6769 I just broke it trying to get GPIO0 pulled... So mad. GRRr Never been so mad over $3.00 in my life.
It is the time wasted I guess.

ESP-05 very bad design to me. Getting hammer now!
