Trying to use 3.3v shuts off the usb serial port adapter (too much power draw).
Maybe the new version uses more power..

I was able to cut the trace with a needle, pull the GPIO0 low with an resistor leg and flash the transparent serial bridge firmware.

Do you need to do this procedure for every firmware or just once to get to a certain level?

Those pins are so small. Did you happen to make a YouTube video of the procedure?

What is the 8 pin chip for?

Set baud rate (serial speed) to 57000 and reset the ESP8255 ESP05, you will see -

It seems the only way to fix is to get into program mode by pulling GPIO pins.

It is the time wasted I guess.

ESP-05 very bad design to me. Getting hammer now!
