If you want to have PWM and/or ADC using the builtin GPIO's from the esp8266 is still the best way to go. One might re-use the uart pins or use gpio0/gpio2.

are the Library for these chips available for Arduino-ESP8266 platform ? i am searching 8 or 16 Pin GPIO extender for ESP-12F
for additional buttons and LED.
