I have right now 10 esp-01 and same problem on all. When I connect to 4-port USB hub, everything works. Then I try power adapter 450mA - ok, 500mA - ok. Problem starts with adapters over 800mA. I tried bulk chineese and brand name (adapter from Samsung S6 mobile, Lenovo mobile, Bose bluetooth etc.). It seems that I get garbage over TX/RX with output current over 800mA (5V). I even tried different power regulator (I will see in my office model later today) with 1,5A max current instead of 1117B. Nothing changed - works only with power adapters under 800mA.

It only makes sense if your 1Amp power supply generate more noise. Have you tried using some decoupling capacitors on output of PSU?

That is a remarkable observation even if it makes no sense at first. Since I see similar flashing issues and fails reported all over ESP related forums and experience it myself maybe this topic brings us closer to a solution.
