1 - 2xAA with one 10uF decoupling capacitor
2 - 2xAAA with 100uF + 10uF decoupling capacitors

- Mon Feb 08, 2016 7:04 pm #40746 damn, I've just purchased some Pololu U1V11F3 hoping to be able to power an ESP8266 from a single AA/AAA NiCd cell. (using the housing from solar LED garden lights for some outside projects).

Should I even try purchasing some super caps (they are quite pricey!) or just abandon this all together? Should the super caps be placed pre or post the step-up regulator or both?
