Hi I am using this guide:

and trying to adapt it for my wifi module that I picked up:

which doesn't seem to be a very popular choice, I haven't seen this module on any forums, etc.
I am pretty naive in this project/area and need some help.
I just want to use my arduino to set up the chip, then use the chip with the arduino for wifi access. I don't have a programmer like ftdi.
I open the serial monitor and nothing happens with AT. I push the reset button on this wifi module and get some crap gibberish in the monitor.
