I am also trying to lower the time using static IP but have not succeeded yet. I can get static IP to work by its self (but then no posting on thingspeak) and if I use "normal connection (not static IP) I can get the posting to work. Could anyone post a full code please that have both the fixed IP part and the post in it please.
Update: Got the basics to work now! (Posted some days ago and it was just approved by moderators and popped up). It was my gateway number that was wrong. Still interested in seeing someone elses more refined code though. Did not understand some of the "tricks" discussed here and is always good way to learn to study code programmed by better programmers.
