For the interest of new MQTT Commander users, I am posting an exerpt from an email conversation I had with Dave
-Kas
This is MQTT Commander V1.6 . . . . .
Also let me have your comments and possible additional features
-Dave
Yes is crashing all the time.
-Kas
Is the App really crashing or can you see a grey button with a "-" inside ??
Please give more details
-Dave
The settings are right but never connect, if I click the square center the apps crash
-Kas
The App has not crashed, you can still access the Configuration menu
It is busy trying to connect to the mqtt broker
Once connected, the top left icon will turn green
What mqtt broker did you choose ?? (I used CloudMQTT for my tests)
If you beleave that your settings are correct, please test them using a desktop mqtt client
I suggest to use mqtt-spy :
https://github.com/kamilfb/mqtt-spy/wiki/DownloadsLet me know how it works
-Dave
You right, today i try and i got the green icon and connect it. I use CloudMQTT . Perfect Thanks for your help.
-Kas
Thanks for your feedback
Unless you mind, I will post parts of this discussion on the Forum
This may be of help for potential users
-Dave
Sure no problem
As already mentioned, the button state (ON=Red or OFF=Blue) is only defined by the state of the controled device, not by touching the button on the smartphone screen.
This is a normal process control strategy.
Without feedback, the button is gray (= unknow state)
Photo #1: Unknow state, App is not connected to router and/or mqtt broker
Photo #2: Unknown state, App is connected to broker, ESP8266 controlled device is switched off or not connected
Photo #1 & #2: App is connected to broker, ESP8266 controlled device is up and running
Hope it helps
