#51338 The ESSP8285 works great with the ESP8266 software. I removed the Eprom and ESP8266 from a ESP201 board and replaced the 8266 with an 8285. Using Arduino 1.6.5 and upgrading to esp8266 Boards Manager Version 2.3.0, and selecting "Generic ESP8285 Module" in the Boards Manager, I could run a LED blinking program by just recompiling.
