#92107 I have a weird issue but I'm trying to find a solution. When I go to send the simple blink code to my d1 mini via either usb port on my laptop it fails but when I use the same cord and d1 mini to a usb port on a usb c hub it works fine. Same cable works on my desktop.

#92133 If your hub uses an external power supply, than the reason is obvious.
Apparently the USB 2.0/3.0 ports of your laptop are not capable of supplying the power necessary.

According to the specifications USB 2.x *should* be able to deliver 500mA, but this is often more, though sometimes less, depending on the manufacturer of the adapter/device.
500mA is at the lower limit of what is needed for a NodeMCU or Wemos board and if you'd also use a thin/long cable, you will lose some power in that as well.

USB 3.1 *should* be able to deliver 900mA and USB-C 3A (but again: depending on the manufacturer of the adapter/device, so your mileage may vary).
