#10986 Hi,

I am new here and to the ESP8266, but I have some projects I'd like to use it for. I was looking on Ebay and came across this board:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/301475108343

which seemed pretty good for £9.99

I've given it a bit of a write-up along with pinouts here: http://scottsnowden.co.uk/?p=393

#11712 Warning!

I just wanted to make a note here about this board in case anyone is thinking of getting one.

The eBay pictures of the board show the DHT11 in the wrong way around, it faces out,but it should face into the board. If you look at the pin out of the DHT11, you will see where the +ve pin is, and this should be matched to the marked + pin on the board.

I have now installed NodeMCU on this board and am starting to develop a WiFi thermostat using the relay to switch my heating on.

#11715 this is one of the chinese dev boards. there is also one for the esp-01!

it uses a special esp-mini-board, which is not part of the regular esp- products (esp01 - esp12)

that board is also not breadboard compatible as its uart connector is in the way!

#11719 Take a look also to OLIMEX Dev Board:
http://www.esp8266-projects.com/2015/03/mailbag-arrival-new-esp-modules-in-town.html

It's Open Source Hardware, from a well known thrusted provider for development tools and programmers for embedded market. Produced under strict EU Rules and regulations.
9.95EUR and quick delivery. In Europe you can have it on your desk in 2 days, in US in 3-5.

I am not afiliated in any way with OLIMEX. Just like their lately products quality and still pissed off of by the ESP-07 Story :http://www.esp8266-projects.com/2015/02/esp-07-module-problem-and-fix.html.

The last 4 modules ordered on Ebay, 2 arrived with the same problem, despite the fact I was assured they are OK. 2 never arrived. The chinese supplier not answering at any messages. Nice customer support, huh?
