Hi, if could be a lease time issue with your router - try setting to never expire.

Thanks - interesting suggestion. I will take a look tonight. The DHCP is actually being served by my home server (Ubuntu 14.04) so I will check the configuration.
In my LUA script I have two timers, the 2nd one is set for 10 seconds and if a connection is not established it should put the ESP back to sleep but this isn't happening so I am not sure if it even gets this far...
