ESP-01M is a nice module and a bit smaller than ESP-12F. Both have same width but ESP-01M is a bit shorter.
Personally I would still use ESP-12F as it has 4MB flash as opposed to 1MB on the ESP8285 based M module and I think the I/O would be easier to solder to.
