#93888 Maybe you're right, but I think he meant one (quantity) 5 Volt. At least I see a space between. But the answer is still the same... you can't even drive a raw ESP - ESP-01, ESP-07, ESP-12, etc with 5V. Ask me how I know... Cooked one - I tried a fully charged Li-Ion 18650... showing 4.2 Volts on an ESP-01. That's before finding the data sheet long time ago. If I recall correctly, it'll handle up to about 3.7.

But rpiloverbd is right... you'll need a regulator IC... OR... if you don't want to bother with the added circuitry, get a WeMos or NodeMCU and power it by the 5V pin.
