One more question, is it really necessary to reset the module (hence close the bridge) to enter into programming mode?

I'm pretty sure I tried the method you described to enter into programming mode but I didn't share the GND so that may be the problem...

Also, is there a data sheet of this module?

To reply myself, you don't need the reset function to enter into programming mode. So if you don't need reset on your project OR you don't need deep sleep function then there is no need to close the bridge.

Mental note: ALWAYS SHARE GND!
