I've created websocket server on esp8266 itself (without arduino host) supporting multiple connection, test done with websocket client on browser:

With your firmware I setup a new test html page and was sending data every 18ms without a issue, which is fast enough for my usage. I'm hoping to get my transmitter https://github.com/MrAPierce/Transmitter project hooked up to a esp module rather than the raspberry pi I have been using previously to reduce the size to a standard receiver.
