Do I need absolutely the FTDI FT232RL or similar? Can't I flash ESP-01 by using my Arduino Mega? :O

You could look here http://www.instructables.com/id/noobs-guide-to-ESP8266-with-Arduino-Mega-2560-or-U/ but perhap this is where you got your code from.

The FTDI FT232RL is very cheap if you get one from eBay. Using this will reduce your esp flashing problems to the minimum.

My advice : Start simple and build up in small increments! If you have a problem then use Google or search the Forum. That is how many of us have learnt about the esp8266
