So, you are using a Mega to communicate with the esp-01. If we are to understand your problem fully you need to give ALL the information!
What happens if you connect directly to the esp-01?
Also what are you using for level shifters between the Mega and the esp-01? Mega 5v device, esp-01 3.3v device.

I'm sorry Acme. I thought that Esp works only with Arduino. But now I understand that it is not so.
So, what means "connect directly"? Without Mega? If yes, how? You're very kind. Thank you!
I have 3.3v using one more component that has Vin = 5v and Vout = 3.3v (and a common GND as third pin)

Ok so I assume that as a newbie you have not flashed the esp-01 and that the vendor supplied AT software is installed. To talk to the esp-01 you will need a 3.3v usb ttl convertor like the FTDI FT232RL.
