ESP8266 Community Forum

I've bought a few different ESP8266 configurations and I'm really excited to work on them

One of them is a fairly well-populated board from Gikfun:

I haven't had any luck talking to it or powering it - anyone have some tips/ideas?

- Wed Mar 18, 2015 8:00 am #12175 AFAIR, those boards ship with an IOT firmware installed. Open the yellow jumper to use it, or close the jumper to upload another firmware. Make sure you use at least a 5V wall adapter like a cellphone charger before you try AA batteries. Here's a thread mentioning it:

- Wed Mar 18, 2015 12:44 pm #12199 Awesome, thanks! I was powering it by connecting the 3.3V pins on one of my random FTDI breakouts. I'll try applying 5V to the AA inputs instead.
