ESP8266 Community Forum

I am very new to all this. I have installed the Arduino IDE on Ubuntu and now can not add ESP8266 capablity to it. There is no filed for me to add the "http://arduino.esp8266.com/stable/package_esp8266com_index.json" to its Addon Preference.

Could someone help?

also if you installed arduino from apt, it'll be 1.0.5 not 1.6.x that esp8266 needs.
