#45896 Hi folks, on the Wiki at wiki/doku.php?id=toolchain#how_to_setup_a_vm_to_host_your_toolchain I see:
"If you run Windows, OSX or Linux 64bit, then one of the easiest ways of setting up a development is to use a virtualization product to run a dedicated toolchain VM."
and a bit later the settings for the VM
"64-bit Ubuntu; 384Mb RAM."

I run 64 bit Linux (Mint, Manjaro, Debian ...) I don't understand why I would need a 64 bit VM if I run 64 bit Linux. I'd prefer to run right on the host as it's a little more convenient. Can someone clarify if the toolchain requires 32 or 64 bit Linux?

Next (or maybe I should be asking first. ;) ) is this a good place to get started or should I pick something else like the Arduino IDE?

Thanks!
